Here is where the Captain sleeps, and gets his paperwork done.

Angelaine stopped in front of the Captain's office and, with some hesitation, pressed the door chime. She instinctively straightened her uniform and patted her flame red hair and waited for his command to enter.

Sitting at his workdesk, he heard the doorchime. "Enter" he said, wondering who it was.

Angelaine heard the command and entered, stading at attention as the dor swooshed closed behind her. "LT Angelaine Kitona reporting for duty, Sir. You wanted to discuss my personnel file with me, I was told. What questions do you have, Sir?"
She waited respectfully.

"Relax" Dallas said, smiling. ""Take a seat, Lt. as you were."
He looked over the Padd with her info on it. "No real concerns, Lt. I just like to get to know all the crew a little. This helps me to do that. But I was wondering, It says here that you are of Royal blood on your Home Planet. Why did you choose Starfleet?

Angelaine smiled. "I get asked that question alot. My Mother, the Supreme Queen, is still healthy, vigorous and not likely to die anytime soon. I saw no reason to simply stay home and deal with all of the boring Diplomatic dinners, cocktail parties, meaningless small talk. You get the picture. I wanted to do somethiong substantial with my life and so, I applied for the Academy."
She smiles. "I was rather suprised when I was accepted. As soon as I got there, they wanted me to go into the Diplomatic Corps but, I told them either I entered the brach I wanted or I was going out on my own. They relented, especially when my Mother threatened to break off out alliance if they tried to push me into something I didn't want to do. So, I chose Navagation and Tatical. I'm already an accomplished pilot and I have some Engineering experience. I can basically turn my hand to just about whatever needs to be done on a starship."
She leaned back in her chair. "I just want to be treated like any other crewmen, so, unless absoultely necessary, could we keep my social status between us? Please?"
She waited, hoping he would understand.

"that shouldn't be a problem at all, Lt. Social status from one's homeworld has no bearing on this ship. It is certainly not proper discussion on the bridge. I maintain confidentiality with all my crew, Lt. Anything you need to say to me will always be between you, me, and these walls. It goes no further."

She sat back and nodded. "Thank you, Sir, that's good to know. One other thing, I was studying Engineering for a couple of terms. The instructors found that I have a 'natural affinity' for the Dilithum crystals. I have a way of knowing when they are off kilter or when they have microfractures so, if you need me in there, I'm willing to go but, I do prefer Navigation and Tatical after all, that is what I wanted to study. I'm willing to work wherever you place me."

"That's very intersting" He repled. "How is it you can do that? Is it genetic?" He paused.
"I want you to work where you feel most comfortable, but Often we have to wear many hats depending upon what the situation calls for. Attributes in more than one dept. may just get you on your way to command training."
"And Lt. I want you to know that for a person of your background to do this, I find admirable. Nothing wrong with getting your hands dirty." He smiled.

She paused before she answered. "No, we don't think it's genetic. I ahve two younger sisters who are also in Starfleet. One is in Medical and the other is in Security. They do not have the same affinity for the crystals. I'm not sure why I can do what I do but, I live with it and use it the best that I can."
She blushed slightly as he continued, "Thank you, Sir. Your approval means a lot to me. Like I said, I'll serve wherever you need me, even if it is Diplomatic. The Goddess knows I have enough experience on that front."
She smiled as she said that.

"I have a feeling we'll all be calling upon all of our personal resources in the missions to come. Tell me something, Lt. Can you, with this ability of yours...Detect unrefined Dilithium? Like in a system? Can you locate it?"
::He wondered how it was that she could be a "Dilithium Bloodhound".

She was thoughful as she listened to his question. "I don't know, Sir. I've never really tried to do that. The next time we need to find some, I could try but, I do have to be close to the crystals to 'sense' them.
I cannot do it if they are in a different area of the ship. Right now, I cannot sense the crystals. I can only do that in Engineering or where they are stored. Trying to read them from the ship to a planet will be almost impossible, I'm afraid. Once planetside, however, I might be able to find them. I can only try."
